For the Ektoplazm crowdfunding campaign I offered a hand-written postcard as one of the perks. This project was more of an undertaking than I had imagined it would be! In total I designed nearly 20 different postcards and wrote out, by hand, more than 150 different addresses and personalized messages. I realized—somewhat belatedly—that it would have been helpful to have a spreadsheet linking everyone’s online identities with their real names, for there are many people I know only from message forums and such, but I’d say that it worked out quite well. My bill at the post office was something silly like $300! It was, of course, totally worth doing. I had a great time reconnecting with artwork in the physical realm and working by hand to completely manifest this project.
